Our Service

Welcome dear parents and children to the 2023 Cathay Summer Camp! As the opening date approaches, we would like to inform parents of some important things to note about the summer camp:

  1. Date and Location of the Campsite

The first day of the summer camp is on July 4th (Tuesday)! Parents are required to drop off and pick up their children at St. Henry Catholic School Circle, 100 Bamburgh Cir, Scarborough M1W 3R3. Please do not forget or go to the wrong location! Here’s how to safely enter the campsite on the first day.

  1. Safety Measures on the First Day

On the first day, children and parents will need to find the school and campsite. To enter the campsite safely and quickly, parents will see many signs pointing to the Cathay Education Summer Camp on the grass. Please follow the signs to the school entrance, where you will see the staff . On the first day of the camp, children may feel a little nervous and reluctant to leave their parents. Parents, please trust our staff and hand your children over to our teachers. Our teachers will comfort and soothe your child. Since there are many parents and children on the first day, we will not invite parents to visit the school. If you would like to visit the school, please make an appointment with the school separately.

      3. Class Assignment

Please pay attention to the class assignment which will be sent out in the group chat later. Find your child’s name and corresponding class. In the past, there have been cases of duplicate names and surnames. Please refer to your child’s age.

Drop Off: The summer camp opens at 9:00 a.m. You can bring your child directly to their own classroom. There will be staff members outside each classroom. Please tell them your child’s name, and they will help your child to put on a name tag.

Pick Up: Please pick up your child from the same classroom. For the safety of the children, please sign your child out with the help of the assistant teacher. If you cannot pick up your child in person and have arranged for a friend to pick them up, please contact the school and provide the name of the friend. Your friend will need to sign the release form before we can let your child leave.

  1. Nutritious Lunch, Fresh Fruit, and Healthy Snacks

Our lunch is carefully selected from restaurants with business licenses and hygiene permits. The delicious recipes on the menu have been chosen by a group of little foodies. We are also careful to use less oil and salt, and avoid using MSG to protect the health of the children. Fresh fruit and snacks will be provided at 10:30 a.m. every day. We will provide fresh cut seasonal fruits such as apples, oranges, bananas, and watermelon to ensure that children who didn’t have time or a proper breakfast can still get the nutrition they need.

How to Have Lunch at the Summer Camp

The first meal that children have at the summer camp is a concern for many parents. We will provide a detailed menu ahead of time for all parents to see. Huaxia advocates for green and environmentally friendly practices, and educates all students to love our dear earth. Because both plastic and paper disposable tableware have corresponding chemical layers, Cahay Education Center refuses to use all disposable tableware! We hope parents will not forget to prepare tableware for their children.

We encourage children to finish every food in their bowl during the one-hour lunchtime, but if they are truly full or unable to finish, we will not blame them. We will let the children cover the leftover food with a lid and take it home, and we ask parents not to blame them. Every child’s body is different, and each day is different, so as parents and teachers, we need to carefully observe their daily changes and encourage them to do better!

         4.Shoes for sports activities:

Every day in the summer camp, there are sports activities and ball games that involve relatively large amounts of exercise. In the past summer camps, there have been cases of children wearing open-toed sandals and breaking their toenails while doing intense exercise. Parents must prepare suitable sports shoes for them.  If parents want their children to wear sandals, they should be non-slip and cover the toes.

         5.Sunscreen:

The summer sun’s ultraviolet rays cause significant harm to children’s delicate skin. We strictly require all children to apply sunscreen before going out for activities. Parents should prepare sunscreen and hats for their children.

Regarding sunscreen:

  • We recommend that children use their sunscreen because there have been cases of children using other children’s or school-prepared sunscreen and experiencing allergic reactions because they forgot to bring their own sunscreen. Parents should prepare suitable sunscreen for their children and write their child’s name on the bottle. Even if children randomly put the sunscreen, we can still find it and return it.
  • When purchasing sunscreen, please do not buy spray sunscreen because children may accidentally spray it into their eyes. The best type of sunscreen is a lotion.

7.Parental Notice

  1. Campers need to bring the following items every day:

a. Items: water bottle, hat, sunscreen, jacket.

b. Stationery: backpack, pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser.

c. Food: If your child brings their own meal, please pack snacks (fruit, etc.) that do not contain nuts. Parents are requested not to send sugary drinks, as water is the healthiest option.

  1. For students who have already ordered meals, please bring a covered lunch box and spoon (do not bring glass utensils to avoid self-injury and injury to others).
  2. For younger students (recommended for those under 6 years old), please bring an extra set of clothes.
  3. Please label all items with your child’s name in both Chinese and English.
  4. If there is an outdoor trip or a water park visit, the school will notify parents in advance. The necessary items to bring include a towel, swimsuit, and non-slip shoes.
  5. For sports and dance classes, parents should provide their child with non-slip athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.
  6. During the summer camp, students are not allowed to bring toys, game consoles, or valuable items to school.
  7. In order to protect the health and safety of other campers, children who have a fever, cold, or symptoms of infectious diseases (hand, foot, and mouth disease, conjunctivitis, etc.) are not allowed to attend the camp and should seek medical attention promptly.
  8. If a child has a fever of 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) or experiences symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea, we will inform parents to pick up their child promptly and seek medical attention.
  9. Temporary notices from the school will be posted on each classroom door during the summer camp. Parents should pay attention when dropping off or picking up their child.

Thank you for reading patiently!

We appreciate the cooperation of all parents and hope that all campers will have a fun and rewarding summer!
